Tech Round-up for 6/4/13

Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

Riverbed’s Stingray Traffic Manager application delivery controller and Virtual Steelhead WAN optimization appliances are now supported on Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V and Hyper-V Server 2012. “Windows Server 2012 introduced leading-edge virtualization capabilities with Hyper-V and Hyper-V Server. Riverbed Stingray Traffic Manager and Virtual Steelhead appliances provide performance optimization in branch offices and data centers, including the largest and most complex Hyper-V virtualized environments,” said Mike Schutz, general manager, Server and Tools Marketing, at Microsoft.

Microsoft unveiled updated enterprise hybrid cloud products at TechEd North America yesterday, including Windows Server 2012 R2, System Center 2012 R2, Visual Studio 2013, and SQL Server 2014. The products will be available as a preview later this month, with Server and System Center hitting general release by the end of the year, and SQL Server shortly after. The company also discussed new business features in the upcoming Windows 8.1 update, including system-on-a-chip integrated mobile broadband, Miracast wireless display, NFC pairing with printers, and new security features.
