Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

A code-execution vulnerability was found in the Plesk control panel, used by more than 360,000 websites on the Apache platform. The exploit can be used by an attacker to get a command line shell with the privileges of the configured Apache user.

Riverbed’s Stingray Traffic Manager, has been certified by Oracle to integrate with Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1. Stingray Traffic Manager with Oracle E-Business Suite will help companies optimize end user services by inspecting, prioritizing, and routing application traffic.

SQL Server 2014 will contain several new features, promising to improve performance in online transactional processing systems. Including a new OLTP based off Microsoft’s Heckathon technology.

Veeam released its first SMB Virtualization Data Protection Report, which found 85% of small businesses are having trouble with the cost of data backup and recovery.

Symantec and the Ponemon Institute released the 2013 Cost of Data breach Study, revealing that employee error and internal system errors caused two-thirds of data breaches last year.
