by on July 11, 2013

Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

Earlier this morning, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer announced a realignment of the company’s divisions, organizing them by function for all of Microsoft’s products. Ballmer says the changes will help Microsoft innovate quicker and with more efficiency.

A proposal for a new technology providing single sign-on for applications on mobile devices is being considered by the OpenID Foundation. A user would be able to authenticate once on the device to access all of their installed applications.

The Linux Foundation, responsible for managing the open-source Xen virtualization manager previously maintained by Citrix, released version 4.3 earlier this week. New features include support for ARM servers and SDN integration.

Third-party apps in Microsoft’s Windows Phone Store, Office Store, or Azure Marketplace that contain critical security vulnerabilities must be patched within 180 days, or they will be taken down, the company said yesterday.
