Tech Round-up for 7/15/13

by on July 15, 2013

Here are some of the technology stories that caught our eye today:

The City of San José, California selected Microsoft’s Office 365, Windows Azure, and StorSimple for use among its more than 5,000 city employees. Implementation is expected to take approximately six months. San José joins San Francisco, Chicago, Texas, and others in deploying Microsoft cloud-based software.

Riverbed added a new higher capacity appliance to its Granite storage delivery product family. Granite allows businesses to securely centralize and manage servers for branch offices in a company’s main data center. New Granite 2.5 software also adds Fibre Channel support.

Microsoft completed its purchase of the InRelease business unit from InCycle. InRelease enhances collaboration between development and operations teams for debugging code. A preview version for Visual Studio is available now, with a final release scheduled by the end of the year.
