Reset Your Privacy Settings In iOS 7

by on September 26, 2013

If you recently upgraded, or are planning on upgrading, your iPhone or IPad to iOS 7, great! But there’s some privacy settings you should check out right after your upgrade. Some of these have been carried over from iOS 6, but the new integration features might not be right for you, especially if you’re not crazy about companies tracking everything you do on the phone.

ZD Net has a good rundown on what you should check if you’re concerned about privacy. They suggest start by turning off:

  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Diagnostics & Usage
  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Location-Based iAds
  • Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Frequent Location

It’s also a good idea to turn on “Limit Ad Tracking” in Settings > Privacy > Advertising, and also hit “Reset Advertising Identifier”.

In your Safari settings, it’s another good idea to turn on Settings > Safari > Do Not Track
